Keys eighth graders delivered their opening statements, objections, and closing arguments this week, as they gathered in Stanford Law School’s Moot Courtroom for two separate Mock Trials. Students spent three weeks in Social Studies class preparing for their trials, reading an unedited Supreme Court case centered around 4th Amendment Rights (New Jersey vs. T.L.O.) and examining the connections to their upcoming fictional court cases. After dividing into defense and plaintiff teams, they dove into the facts of their cases and crafted compelling strategies for their morning in court.
