Today, kindergarten students experienced the Keys Lower School Makerspace for the first time. In the spirit of the Halloween season, students constructed finger puppets for their first project. Teachers helped students use hot glue guns to seam the edges of their finger puppets together, and then the students were free to build the rest of their finger puppets on their own. Students used materials such as markers, googly eyes, and jewels to embellish their spooky puppets. After this introduction to making, students are now free to stop by the Makerspace during their lunchtime to continue exploring new tools and materials, growing as makers (with adult supervision of course!).
