Keys Student Artwork on Display in San Jose Art Gallery

Aspiring Keys School visual artists in grades K-4 currently have their work featured in a summer art exhibit in the Art Gallery at the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose. The gallery features new exhibits every two to three months in a variety of media created by artists of all ages.

The artwork featured in the exhibit titled Bird’s Eye was inspired by landscape paintings of iconic artists such as Louisa Matthíasdóttir and Claude Monet, who used color and abstracted nature in their paintings.

The students responded to these works by first simplifying their chosen landscape scenes into shapes, working the detail back into their paintings. The final step consisted of creating additional layers with tempera paint, chalk, and oil pastel.

The exhibit is on display to the public through August 8, 2016. Bravo to all our talented student artists! To learn more about the gallery, visit https://www.cdm.org/visit/exhibits/art-gallery/.
