House Groups Design New Games

The spirit of play was alive, kicking, and on full display last Friday afternoon during a Lower School House activity. Tasked with developing a brand new, never before imagined game, the field was buzzing with Lower School students prototyping plans and refining rules. Working together in their house groups, game design required students to identify an objective, develop guidelines for play, and test their plans for fun, logic, and levels of challenge. Younger and older students imaginatively collaborated to establish the rules and boundaries of their games.

In no time at all, the field was humming with activity. Students joined hands in sprints across the field, listened to each other’s suggestions for game improvements, and gave out high-fives of encouragement. It was the perfect way to spend a sunny April afternoon.
